I find my work with children, adolescents and adults affected by anxiety disorders including selective mutism, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder;  Tourette syndrome; attention deficit disorder, and other neurodevelopmental disorders to be one of the most fulfilling aspects of my clinical practice. 

 

My co-therapists, Quincy and Bo, offer another dimension to therapy. Children who are fearful, withdrawn and uncommunicative will typically react positively to Quincy and Bos warm and playful behavior. Initially talking to the dogs is much easier than talking to me. The dogs are frequently seen as a friend and ally, and create a welcoming atmosphere that helps children feel safe.
