Lauren Knickerbocker
 

 

Dr. Lauren Knickerbocker is an Assistant Professor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Child Study Center at NYU Langone Medical Center. She is the co-coordinator of the Selective Mutism service at the Child Study Center with Dr. Richard Gallagher.

 

The Selective Mutism service offers assessment, and empirically supported behavioral treatment for children struggling with communication and comfort in a variety of settings. Treatment is offered in individual, group, and school settings including a monthly Camp Courage Adventures held on the weekend as well as a yearly summer camp. Summer Camp Courage is a fun therapeutic camp to provide extended exposure practice for children with Selective Mutism.

 

 

Dr. Knickerbocker completed her postdoctoral training in clinical psychology at the Child Study Center. She earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Stony Brook University and completed her internship year at Mailman Center for Child Development at the Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. She has specialized training in CBT, Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and organizational skills training for children with ADHD.
