Ken Langford

I am an experienced teacher, a former school principal, and a registered psychologist. I have taught from kindergarten to college and university level. I have worked in a variety of settings, ranging from a mental health facility, to the public school system, and latterly, private practice.

My approach is eclectic with a bias toward pragmatic, behavioural solutions. Over the years, in public service and private practice, I have successfully dealt with a range of problems including Dyslexia, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, behaviour management, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders [ASD], phobias (including school phobias), Selective Mutism and Tourette's Syndrome.  I am very interested in the acquisition of reading skills, and have been involved with readers and reading disabilities in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.

I offer Psychological - Educational Assessments at all levels, including those for university students who may be eligible for learning support, and assessments specifically for students in French Immersion. Initially a one-hour meeting is scheduled to explore the presenting problems, and to decide the best course of action. After this meeting options are considered and an initial plan is formulated, which may  include formal Psychological Educational testing.

I offer ongoing counselling when it is appropriate. With younger clients, it is often more effective to provide ongoing consultation with the parents or caregivers.
