
James Snyder
Dr. James Snyder, M.D., is the Director and Founder of Long Island Psychiatric in Roslyn, NY, Founder and President of The House of Mind Asperger Syndrome and the Arts Project (a not-for-profit charity raising awareness of Asperger Syndrome through education, art, music and film), the author of Jimmy Racecar, a childrens book dealing with self esteem issues and ADHD, the co-creator of The Soren Center for the Treatment of Childhood Anxiety Disorders and, most recently, the psychiatrist for the Westbrook Residential School for Autism in Westbury, NY.
Dr. Snyder earned his medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine in New York and completed his Internship in General Surgery, Adult Psychiatry Residency and Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in 1997.
A member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Snyder also holds a Diplomate from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.Dr. Snyder has previously served as Director of the ADHD Program at North Shore - Long Island Jewish University Hospital and has held academic appointments as Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine and SUNY Stony Brook Department of Pediatrics.
For over a decade, Dr. Snyder has become well known for his sensitivity, careful clinical approach and expertise in the diagnosis and psychopharmacological treatment of children and adolescents. A dedicated teacher and advocate, Dr. Snyder regularly volunteers his time by giving seminars and lectures to parents on the impact of mental illness and on Making the Decision to Medicate Your Child - how to decide whether medications should be prescribed to children and adolescents suffering with psychiatric disorders.
